Ridglea United Methodist Church

We welcome YOU to Ridglea United Methodist Church.  Founded in June of 1943, we are celebrating our Lord and Savior every day throughout the year!

Our Vision
To be the light of Christ N.O.W! (Nurture, Outreach and Witness).

Our Mission
As a United Methodist congregation, our MISSION is to reach others for Christ and make disciples.

Our Goal
Each one REACH one!

Danny Tenney
Danny joined Ridglea United Methodist Church in Jan. 2006. He and his wife, Angela, have a son and a daughter. We are excited to have Danny and his family at Ridglea!

Joan Brooks
Director of Childcare Ministries
Joan lives for children and she loves them as much as Jesus does!  She began her ministry here in 1968, and has reached the point in her career where she is now tending 2nd and 3rd generations!  Not only has she “run the nursery” these many years, in 2000 she became Director of our Mothers’ Day Out program, one of the finest in the city.  Joan and husband Jack have three grown children, several grandchildren and even great grandchildren which you would never suspect upon meeting them!  If you want your babies loved, bring them to “Mrs. Joan”!

Sean Armstrong
Lay Minister to Youth
Sean joined us in October 2004 and is doing an awesome job.  Many remark that he looks like “one of the kids” (when he wears his cap backwards, you have to do a double take to confirm he’s the grown-up!)  A teacher at Southwest Christian, he brings an incredibly deep love for Christ and His youth.  He ministers through the Word, through love and through music.  He is blessed in his ministry with wife Kortney who works along side him and we are all recently blessed with their first baby.

Allison Whetsel and Joey Stith
Lay Minister of Music and Organist
Allison Whetsel and Joey Stith are gifts straight from God.  They became our music team in January of this year.  You can learn more about them at our Chancel Choir spot on the Worship page.

Donna Roberts,
Custodian|Building Supervisor
Donna is the one who keeps the place up; she is not only our custodian, but fulfills the role of sexton, locking and unlocking the building whenever there is a need.  She is invaluable!  She and husband Peter and their 3 children are an incredible blessing to our church family.  Member-wise Donna is our Acolyte Coordinator and a Shepherd in our Rotation Sunday School program Journey to Jesus.

Janice Culpepper
Wedding Coordinator
Janice Culpepper is the wedding “hostess with the most-est”.  Ridglea UMC has one of the most beautiful traditional sanctuaries in the city!  Dark wood, red carpets, stained glass windows, center aisle and Janice’s sweet spirit, make every bride and groom feel at home.  Janice has been a member at RUMC since age 3 and she knows just about anything there is to know about RUMC.  She is the proud mother of two and “Gran” of four.  Janice works at another church by day and we are blessed to have her as our Wedding Coordinator, even if she has to work “by appointment”.

The servants listed here are our “paid” staff.  We are blessed to have many wonderful volunteers who do tremendous ministry for the love of our Savior and

I would like to come back for a visit.
